I had a coupon for Borders that was about to expire, and I figured that I'd get myself a book for Christmas--as long as it was something that could help me make an impact on the world. I decided to get What's Mine Is Yours: The Rise of Collaborative Consumption because it's really about what I feel is the key to delivering life-giving resources in the future--coordination versus creation. Most of the resources and information we need to address issues already exist--we just need to make connections.
This video, featuring Clay Shirky, from TED, talk about this sort of idea--the separation of coordination and institutionalization--in an interesting way. Enjoy!
