Interesting Links of the Week: Search Engines

While I know that "all of my fans" will be reading this (thanks Mom!), I figured I'd put some interesting content up anyway. Sound good to everyone? Wow, we have a consensus because no one is reading this.

SEARCH ENGINES: You're probably asking yourself, "Alex, how could you possibly picked a more interesting topic? Search engines are so riveting!" To which I would respond, "Okay" and said nothing further because I'm SUPER EXCITED about these two resources.

Either way, these search engines allow you to do a little good and find what you're looking for. Wonderful!

AllTop.Com

This is a great resource for tracking the blogs, online newsletters, etc., in a certain topic area. Such as the one above--that happens to be a semi-custom ("semi" because you choose from a list of words similar to the keyword) search engine for blogs and such around the word "nonprofit." AllTop has all sorts of capabilities, so you should definitely check it out and get connected to the best online resources (though don't forget about the diamonds in the rough every once in a while!)

GoodSearch.Com

The halo on their name let's you know that you can 'do no wrong' when using their site. But the concept is pretty simple--a small (about a penny) portion of the proceeds of your search on their site. So, for instance, I chose one of my favorite organizations, the Boys and Girls Club of Bloomington, IN, and did some searching that I needed to do (they don't like fraudulent searching) and BAM!! Before I knew it, I was raising a little bit of money. The search engine itself is pretty good, so why not try it out?
